YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S., with ISO 14001 management system certificate, demonstrates the importance of the environment while continuing its investments and continues to produce GREEN STEEL with its environmental investments, primarily dust collection.

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S, to prevent the effects and risks of all solid, liquid and gas wastes occurring in the field of activity on the environment, to protect and improve the environment and nature, beyond the legal obligations, has accepted as a duty.

 YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S, environmental protection measures have priority. For example, by using advanced methods to prevent steel mill dust from being released into the air, to treat flue gases and to protect water resources, the limits prescribed by international standards and Turkish environmental legislation are complied with.

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S., plans investments primarily to ensure the reuse and/or recovery of waste occurring during its activities.

In this context, a by-product certificate from the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning and Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) were obtained for "Artificial slag aggregate"."Slag Recovery Facility " has been established in order to contribute to the economy of the country by ensuring the reuse and recovery of slag wastes.

In this facility, Steel found in slag is recovered and reused as raw material in our steelworks facility. Steel slag as artificial aggregates as well as road superstructure as infrastructure material in the levelling layer (ground tightening operations, etc.) in the land. road construction, asphalt production, curb and cobblestone production, concrete construction, cement production material and briquettes or road surface material construction (briquettes, tiles etc.)), can be considered as ballast material for sea and land fill material and water structures.

Emissions are constantly monitored with continuous emission measurement systems in the chimneys, and the measured values are transferred online to the Ministry centre through a special data transmission system for the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to follow.

Our primary goal is to minimize the negative effects and risks of our operations on the environment.

As the basic requirement of our environmental policy;

Environmental information of products EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is becoming more and more important in order to ensure communication between the institutions and the producer-consumer. In practice, EPDs are statements consisting of verified information including the environmental performance of products and services such as raw material acquisition, energy use and efficiency; material and chemical content; emissions from air, water and soil; and waste generation. As EPD documentation provides a basis for evaluating the environmental performance of products in a way that covers all production phases according to The Life Cycle Assessment standard. YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S. It has the EPD certificate to bring up its contributions to the environment and nature at every opportunity and to declare the environmental performance of its products.

 With the EPD certificate, it aims to transparently share verified quantitative environmental information about the product or service with the community, thereby promoting products and services that have less adverse effects on the environment. EPD documents contain illuminating information on the environmental performance of building materials and make it possible to obtain information on the efficiencies of the materials

As a proof of our Green production, EPD reports are being prepared and the greenhouse gas effect, one of the most sensitive issues for the world, is of great importance to us as well. We work to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) effect from our supply chain, production and innovation activities, taking into account all the steps from the beginning in the transportation of raw materials, and set targets related to these

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S. the concept of sustainability means programming the life and development of today and the future in such a way as to enable the needs of future generations to be met and developed without consuming natural resources by establishing a balance between Man and nature during steel production.

For YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S. the sustainability is the production of Sustainable Construction Steel taking into account the Occupational Health and safety, human rights, environmental, social and economic impacts of products and services.

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. and TURZ. TIC. A.S. developing ethical supply chain practices for maximum traceability limits in a sustainable supply chain, it monitors the scrap that is our raw material throughout the supply chain from the supplier we buy to the production, packaging, stocking, sales, shipment and down to final use at construction. Scrap collectors are unable to track further back due to the fact that they cannot be tracked effectively.

ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE:

In our facility located in İskenderun, there are Steel plant and Rolling Mill facilities and in 2020; 100% of them were recruited from the local community with 1060 employees 1,237,002 mtons of recycled scrap iron were used in our steelwork facility and 1,065,639 mtons of billet iron and 882,881 mtons of rebar were produced in our rolling mill.

Purchasing activities prioritize the procurement of supplies from local regional suppliers (Hatay-Osmaniye-Adana-Gaziantep-Mersin) in order to contribute to the diversity and stability of the local economy 

ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE:

Waste Management and Energy Use:

The separation, stockpiling and disposal - recovery of all solid, liquid and gas wastes occurring in the fields of our company are ensured and controlled in order to prevent and/or minimize the effects and risks it poses on the environment.

We provide the disposal and recycling of all kinds of solid, liquid and gas wastes that arise and may arise during production repair and maintenance etc. activities at our facilities within the framework of legal obligations, with the priority of recovery.

Our primary goal is the recovery of waste in waste management. We collect all waste, including waste from ships arriving at our port, in accordance with the legislation and send them to licensed recycling facilities to recycle or dispose them.

Scale waste originating from the process, formed in the Steel Plant and Rolling Mill divisons, has an important place in terms of waste management. Scale, is used by Iron and steel plants with domestic blast furnaces and white goods manufacturers are also exported abroad and recycled.

The most important subject of waste management is process-sourced waste. Process -sourced waste from our facilities; Steel shop slag, Steel shop chimney powder and Rolling mill scale.

 Apart from process wastes, our facilities produce waste oils, End of life tire, packaging wastes, organic wastes, packaging wastes, electronic wastes, and medical wastes. It is sent to licensed companies according to the type of waste and if possible, it is recycled and, in other cases, disposed.

Water and Wastewater Management:

One of the most important natural resources used in our facilities is 'Water'. While water is used in steel production, cooling the steel and bringing it to the desired quality standards, water has an important place in cooling the machinery and equipment in the enterprise.

Our aim in our water and wastewater management is to minimize water consumption. For this purpose, process cooling water is designed as a closed circuit and the same water is reused after purification and cooling.

Domestic wastewater collected from units such as Kitchens, Bathrooms and Toilets in our facility is treated and discharged in the OIZ Wastewater Treatment Plant. 

SOCIAL PERFORMANCE:

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. AND TURZ. TIC. A.S. In addition to producing the construction steel needed by Turkey and the world in appropriate conditions and environmentally sensitive, it has revitalized the economy and contributed to employment in the region where it is established. However, in accordance with its Corporate Social Responsibility Principle, it supports projects in the areas of social development, public infrastructure, environment, education and Health developed in its region and contributes to health, culture and art activities.

In human resources activities, local people (registered with Hatay population) are employed to contribute to the diversity and stability of the local economy.

The satisfaction of our employees is given importance and satisfaction situations and expectations are determined by organizing individual complaint management and stakeholder surveys. All of our employees (blue collar) are unionized and no minimum wage policy is implemented (except for subcontractors).

The training of our employees is given importance. Survey forms are organized for the purpose of determining the educational needs and determining the educational subjects. Trainings are organized on a personal basis, taking into account the expectations, shortcomings, experience and positions of the personnel.

In addition, university and Vocational High School students are provided with internship opportunities during the summer and winter semesters.

In order to ensure that our employees work in a safe and healthy environment, we establish, implement and maintain the Occupational Health &Safety and Environmental Management System, and take utmost care to follow and fulfil the legal and other requirements in force.

The Occupational Health and Safety Board is evaluating Occupational Health and safety issues within the factory with regular meetings during periods stipulated by the legislation and making improvements in line with the decisions taken.

Risk assessment tables have been established within the framework of the accident Risk analysis and evaluation procedure in order to determine and evaluate the risks and hazards that may occur during the factory-wide studies. Improvement activities are planned and improvements are made in line with these plans for the high risk activities and impacts arising in these statements.

In order to ensure occupational health and safety, the personnel working in our factory are notified of the incidents which are near loss and the danger and non-compliance and improvement activities are carried out by opening corrective preventive activities requests for these.

Complaint and Advice Management:

YAZICI DEMIR CELIK SAN. AND TURZ. TIC. A.S. possible suggestions and complaints related to "suggestions and Complaints Form" is provided with.

The complaints to be made by third parties regarding the environment to our company are received from the Factory Security Door with a petition; these petitions are transferred to the Complaint Notification Form by the Human Resources Department and reported to the Environment and Occupational Safety Chief with the complaints.

The absence of any complaints made by third parties regarding the environment to our company in 2020 is an indication of the importance we attach to the environment.

The individual complaints of our employees are received with the complaint box and evaluated by the Factory Manager.
